About Taller Oliva

What is Taller Oliva?

Taller Oliva is a design research center based in Barcelona investigating collaborative intelligence—how human creativity and AI capabilities work together. We run workshops, conduct research, and develop methodology for teams exploring human-AI collaboration.

What is collaborative intelligence?

Collaborative intelligence is our framework for understanding how humans and AI systems can create together. Not AI replacing human work, but AI amplifying human judgment, creativity, and capability. The focus is on partnership, not automation.

Who are COLAB Sessions for?

We work with design studios integrating AI into creative workflows, universities transforming design pedagogy, innovation teams seeking new approaches, and cultural institutions exploring creativity at the intersection of human and machine intelligence.

Do you only work in Barcelona?

We're based in Barcelona, but available globally. We offer in-person sessions in Barcelona and remote sessions for teams worldwide. For corporate and university engagements, we travel to your location.

About COLAB Sessions

What is a COLAB Session?

COLAB Sessions are intensive workshops where teams prototype functional solutions through structured human-AI collaboration. The outcome is working prototypes, not just concepts or decks.

Do participants need prior design experience?

No. Our methodology is designed to work for mixed teams—designers, product managers, developers, stakeholders. The AI collaboration tools lower the barrier to prototyping, so anyone with a clear problem to solve can participate.

What AI tools do you use?

We primarily use v0 by Vercel for generating interfaces, Claude for research and ideation, and Claude Code for code-based prototyping. These are combined with traditional design methods: sketching, mapping, and human-centered design principles.

What are the session formats?

Consultation call: Exploratory conversation to understand your challenges. Sprint (one afternoon): Rapid prototyping focused on a specific challenge, minimum 2 participants. Immersion (full day): Deep methodology training across multiple challenges, up to 10 participants. Transformation (3 days): Complete team capability building with implementation support.

What outcomes will we get?

Functional prototypes you can test with users. Methodology training your team can apply independently. For longer formats, cultural change frameworks for integrating collaborative intelligence into ongoing work.

How many people can participate?

Sprints require minimum 2 participants. Immersions work best with 4-10 people. Transformations can include entire teams or departments.

Can sessions be remote?

Yes. We run remote sessions for distributed teams. In-person is preferred for Immersion and Transformation formats, but we adapt to your situation.

About AI & Design

Will AI replace designers?

No. AI changes what designers do, not whether designers are needed. The most valuable design work—understanding context, making judgment calls, navigating ambiguity—remains human. AI handles generation and iteration. Humans handle direction and decision.

How do I use AI without losing creative voice?

By treating AI as a collaborator, not a replacement. You bring intention, context, and judgment. AI brings speed, variation, and execution. The methodology we teach focuses on maintaining human agency throughout the process.

Is it ethical to use AI in design?

This is a question we take seriously. Our position: AI tools are not neutral, but they can be used thoughtfully. We address sourcing, attribution, and the environmental cost of AI systems as part of our methodology. Ethical use requires conscious practice, not avoidance.
